The Path of Least Resistance

The Path of Least Resistance
(learning how to be worthy of being looked up to)
"I thought I'd have a loyal fitness buddy who would nudge me to walk every day and who'd never fluff out. I got a walking companion all right, but one who was constantly sniffing, marking, sprinting ahead, and tugging - not exactly the fitness companion I had in mind." Does this sound familiar? You have to condition your dog as you do yourself. How avoid the common and uncommon canine outdoor athlete problems? This interactive seminar is lots of fun. It's two days - 5 to 6 hrs each day (we break for lunch and change if the weather insists) Get a group together - invite a friend, meet old or new friends, work mates, or a group that all enjoy time together but the dogs just weren't getting with the program. Be prepared to have fun! You are a big part of this interactive course so bring all your questions and concerns. So when you dream up an excuse, your furry companion will sit by the door wiggling, wagging and giving you the eye. "Hey, let's go !" That's all you need to remember the importance of a walk for both of you.

Be prepared to have fun! You are a big part of this interactive course, bring all your questions and concerns.

Lessons & Scheduling

Basic Obedience Training...trick training ....Freestyle / Heel to music Dance

Obedience begins with a private consultation to get you started. Then you're eased into classes. We keep our classes small and we train outside in real life situations.Trail walks and street smarts are all part of a carefully structured program that gives you outside experience with my support. You will successfully cover ten basic skills, including trail manners and walking on the street with people and other dogs. In our 3-5 weeks of training, our course will also cover problem-solving techniques. Everyone has issues that he or she and their dogs are struggling with. I will help you to work towards overcoming the behaviour problems (just the dog's behaviour :-).

There are 10 lessons in all. Three lessons per week are perfect as then your course is over in 3 - 4 weeks. However, twice a week is acceptable as that allows you to stay consistent and progress at a fast and successful rate. I place great emphasis on the pet/owner relationship and focus on building a mutually respectful relationship between pet and person, and training for community living, rather than strict competition obedience. My programs are designed to build confidence and good socialization skills while learning great manners! I offer fun and interactive dog training with hands -on instruction for all breeds and ages. I focus on building a lasting bond between pet and person, and preparing your dog for a life in a human world and becoming a "good citizen." I will teach you how to develop a leadership role with your dog, permitting reliable control with compassion!

Just like us, every dog is different. Now you are a TEAM and each of you have your own learning curve and personalities, etc. My approach will give you greater INSIGHT into what dogs are all about and how to best train them for reliable results, by teaching you about learning theory and about your dog's development and behaviour. I can assure you that you will gain a larger understanding of your pet, thus becoming a better dog handler and owner yourself!

Prices vary due to the needs of individuals. Your training program is tailor made just for you and your dog. Cost includes taxes, equipment and paper work you will receive as we go along on the course. Yes, we do take post dated cheques to help you meet your pay days. You will get a report card so you can visually follow your own progress and be able to have an idea when your not at class just what you will be working on. Lots of fun ,lots to learn, lots of fun learning for you both!

Signing up is easy.....let me know what one you will be coming to, I will make a time where we can have some extra time prior to a regular class. In that way you will have time to go over all your questions to me about your own concerns and your dogs. You will get some paperwork to take home to read and of course to be able to look back at to help you keep your focus! We will start working right away! You will go home after your first class full of confidence as will you dog.

Classes

Thursday 9am "Street Smarts"

Thursday 7 - 8 Tricks & Obedience Classes

Saturday 9am "Trail Manners"

You will also be able to do trail hikes with other dogs, big & small. The trail walks are not a class but are crucial in learning technique for you and you dog. You will get updated emails each week so you can choose which classes ...some during the day and some are private plus which hikes best suit your work /life schedule then you can let me know which ones you can attend. Trail walks : Wed 9 a.m. Friday 9 a.m. Saturday 9 a.m. (different places each week will be in weekly email to everyone).

Family classes are encouraged as well. Kids like to be included and so do life partners. We want you to come to classes ready to enjoy the challenge and the adventure of learning new things and building a great bond of trust and respect between you and your fabulous furry friend. You have to have fun to learn and training is done from the heart!
