March: the Pet expo was a blast! I was just a baby myself but got a chance to show off my stuff to the audience..Peni and George helped me not get too crazy with the crowd.
April: our "Trailblazers Canine Hikers Group" took part in the 10K walk for The Annual Volk Blossom walk. There were 20 dogs and 25 people one baby. We completed the walk in just over two hours. We won the award for the largest non profit group in the event! Good Job Trail Blazers!
May: Our Island Dog Sports Agility Club and the K9 freestyle dancers "Beggin for Applause" performed in Duncan (we did 2 shows ) were on T.V. and cool T.V.guy named James inviewed me. It is a fun day and a family day for the community. It was also the hottest day in 25 years over 30c. It was HOT!

Please make sure you are familiar with how to use and handle all the items in your first aid kit. On the spot in an emergency is no place to start to practice or learn. You want to be sure and confident in what you are doing so your mind is as clear as possible in the emergency.
First aid kits for dogs are just the same as for people ..a few differences depends on the size of your dog. I add the extra's to my own kit...with the help of my Vet. So here is what I have in mine:
- Phone # for your vet or animal emergency in the area's you will be traveling
- Phone # for Local poison control centre. The national one is 888-426-4432 or www.aspca.org. Please note: there is a consultation fee charged
- A first Aid manual or chart for quick reference (ask your vet)
- Sterile bandaging material, such as gauze bandages. (1" roll) and non-stick dressing pads 2" squares are a good size.
- Non-sting antiseptic swabs or spray ( some dogs don't like the sound of the spray can). I have seen it in the pump style too
- Water soluble lubricating jelly
- Styptic pencil
- Adhesive Tape
- Pencil or stick for a tourniquet
- Material for a muzzle. i.e. an old neck tie or a old nylon stocking
- Roll cotton
- Hydrocortisone cream
- Tweezers
- Thermometer (rectal or ear) Generally rectal are more reliable, unless you are very experienced with the infrared ear thermometer
- Blunt-ended scissors
- Syringes, without needles attached fir administering medications (3ml-10ml)
- Plastic eyedropper for administering small doses of medications
- Towels, blankets and material for a stretcher.( I have used the blanket and dragged.... only wishing I had put two (3ft or 4 ft) in length and only 1" or 2 " diameter. pieces of plastic pvc (like the jumps for our agility) into our Van space
- Hydrogen peroxide (3%) for wound care and to induce vomiting only use when directly advised by vet. Syrup of ipecac can also be used to induce vomiting. Always check with Vet about inducing vomiting
- Pepto-Bismol for diarrhea
- Broad-spectrum antibacterial eye and skin ointments
- Antihistamine tablets/liquid. It is a good idea to contact your veterinarian ahead of time to determine the dose and type most suited for your pet

Do you answer questions about cats? I hope so...here is mine. I am a handsome Brown Lab and I have had my cat for 3 years ... this has been an ongoing problem but sometimes it is a bit embarrassing.
After we have a roll about on the floor, we have the "quiet type of playing." But, Bob drools when he is purring and kneading me with his paws; why does he do this?"
Rocky
Hi Rocky !
Well, being the macho guy you are, I can see why this behaviour would put you ill at ease. But the drooling, purring, kneading behaviour that many cats do as adults is left over from the nursing behaviour of kittenhood. Now, as an adult, when "Bob" is particularly happy and content, he re-enacts these behaviours from his kittenhood. This is often behaviour that is seen in kittens who were weaned too early. This is a harmless and I think a sweet habit; he really is bonded to you, big guy.....however, it is a bit of a wet one.

It is with deep sorrow the I must tell you that my best buddy in all the world , my dad Mark, has died in a tragic accident. I know you all knew and liked my dad and I thank you for that. He worked really hard to help me be the great dog I am today! My Mom Nikki and I would be pleased if you would take a few moments to remember him on your trail walk on Saturday.
Fondest regards "Scout" Antenbring
Mark Antenbring died in an accident while at 'boot camp' in St Jean Quebec May 27/2005 Mark had only been out there for 4 days when this happened. Mark was training for his lifelong dream of being an air force pilot. The obituary is in the Times-Colonist this morning.
A military Service and celebration of Mark's life will be held Friday Aternoon June 3 at 2p.m. in the Roayl Oak Baptist Church 898 Roayal Oak Dr. Pia and I are going to attend the service and give our love and support to Nikki.
Mark would be thrilled if memorial donations were made to Vancouver Island Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club.
I thought that we could take up donations between us all (just a couple of dollars each) and send it in from the TrailBlazers in Marks memory.
Or you can do your own if you wish.
Send it to Vancouver Island Hang Gliding and Paragliding Club

By the time of Margaret Saunders death in 1947 she was called one of "Canada’s most Reverend writers".
